Bridal Make up guest blog by Emma McBride –

‘After a summer of rain, Helen was lucky enough to wake up to glorious Lancashire sunshine on Saturday 8th September!
I arrived at Helen’s mum’s house in Eccleston (home of the famous Bradley Wiggins!) to find all the girls chatting, drinking champagne and having their hair dressed (by Alison Whalley) in the conservatory. It’s always fantastic to see everyone using the conservatory as their base for getting ready as there is so much natural light and this allows for great application of make up.
During a previous briefing chat, Helen had advised me that she usually wore very little or a light make up and she wanted to look fresh and natural on her wedding day.
With this in mind we opted for the beautiful bareMinerals powder foundation make up to give her skin a natural flawless finish. A light dusting of Laura Mercier bronzer in Coral Bronze gave warmth to her skin and contoured her face along with Clinique’s fresh bloom in Almond blossom to her cheeks. I also used Too Faced’s Candlelight pressed powder all over her face, which gives a lovely ‘candlelit’ glow to the skin. As a natural blonde, I gave a gentle definition to her eyebrows using the blonde brow powder from Eylure (Shape and shade Brow Palette).

Again, for her eyes, Helen wanted to maintain a natural look so I used Clinique’s ‘Totally Neutral’ eyeshadow trio, highlighting under the brow bone with Clinique’s eyeshadow in ‘Buff’. Helen wanted just a little eyeliner along the bottom lash line so I used a soft Clinique pencil in chocolate lustre.
For her masacara, as with all brides, I asked her if she was likely to cry during the day?! Despite being incredibly calm all morning she agreed that this was a possibility so we opted for a water-proof mascara, ‘The Falsies’ by Maybelline. I also used Shu Uemura’s eye light pencil to the inner rim of her eyes to give a gorgeous wide awake, fresh look in her photographs.

Finally, in keeping with her natural, understated look, I defined her lips with Estee Lauder’s Automatic lip pencil duo in Fig and Shu Uemura lipstick in SS BG 911. I then used Helen’s own Mac lip gloss which she would be using to touch up during the day to give a beautiful glossy finish to her look.
Helen emailed me when she returned from her honeymoon, to say that she was really pleased with her make up – it had been a pleasure to do!
